The Harvesting Innovations Hackathon is designed to find new ideas and technologies to help farmers in rural India deal with climate change.
The hackathon is jointly organized by the GIZ India (The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH), Bankers Institute of Rural Development (BIRD), Connecting Dreams Foundation (CDF) under the Indo-German Development Cooperation project 'Climate Adaptation, Resilience and Climate Finance in Rural India (CAFRI II), commissioned by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
Hack2Skill is the Innovation & Platform Partner for this hackathon.
The hackathon will focus on finding solutions to problems like unpredictable weather patterns, rising temperatures, erratic rainfall, technology gaps, inefficient irrigation practices, and water resource management. The goal is to find solutions that can be used by smallholder farmers in rural India to improve their livelihoods and make their communities more resilient to climate change.

Harvesting Innovations Hackathon is open to the College Students, technologist, freelancers and startup in agri business , professional developer community , NGO / CBO, Corporates , Government Department, academic research institutions ,
The entry should be functional for review by the judges. (preferably yes)
There is no participation fee.
Yes, participants are required to submit a prototype.
The organizing team will approve and confirm your participation. Shortlisted teams will receive a confirmation email and it will reflect on the user dashboard.
Yes, all team members can login from their account and submit application.
Yes, the project offers a certificate after the hackathon, the project doesn't reward any cash in hand, refer to the benefits section.
Yes, the registration form asks for government Id and registration documents (in the case of a company / institutions /FPO) along with the written proposal.
No, there is no fixed team size, ensure the registration of all the participants in a team while submitting the registration form. Multiple entries from a team/participant are not allowed. Only the latest entry would be considered valid.
Each Entry must be original, of the Participant or Participant’s teams own creation, and newly written during the Hackathon and must not have been entered in any other competition or program similar to the Hackathon. “Newly written” means that Participants cannot in any way copy software code that already privately exists, and submit it as part of an Entry. Entries may be subject to a due diligence review at any time for eligibility and compliance with these Terms.

1. Develop climate-resilient solutions for smallholder farmers: Utilize agroecology and emerging technologies to tackle context-specific challenges 2. Pilot & refine solutions with farmer involvement: Collaborate with local partners to test solutions on the ground, gather data, and refine them based on feedback. 3. Scale up proven solutions through partnerships: Showcase successful solutions, build collaborations with government and private sector, and create community-driven adoption models. 4. Empower communities for long-term ownership: Equip community members with skills and knowledge, involve them in co-creating solutions, and gradually transfer ownership for self-sustainability. 5. Advocate for supportive policies and investments: Use data and success stories to influence policy changes, secure funding, and integrate effective solutions into existing government programs.
An Expert panel will review the idea from the developing to final stages.

The ideation stage of a proposal is the initial phase where you brainstorm, generate, and refine ideas for your project or solution. It's the crucial first step where you move from problem recognition to exploring potential solutions. A tangible, scaled-down representation of the core features and functionalities of a proposed solution. It can be physical, digital, or a combination of both.
